Our process is built with your research in mind, aiming for high-quality specimens every time.
We work with accredited hospitals and pathology groups to source specimens worldwide, under regulatory approvals, according to standardized collection and processing protocols.
Our lab team processes and embeds all specimens into high-quality paraffin, then reviews tissue size and grossing quality to ensure consistency across our specimen collection network.
Our board certified pathology team reviews each slide for tissue quality, while assessing the presence of key structures and details like tumor %, necrosis %, and tumor type.
A DNA extraction and nucleic acid integrity check is performed to review the sample quality at a molecular level, with downstream nucleic acid-based applications in mind. For specific populations, genomic signatures and quality are annotated.
Our operations team adds the specimens that pass our quality control thresholds to our live inventory that is available to all customers at any time directly from our website.
Our customer service team receives your request, carefully packs and ships the selected specimens to your lab, and provides all data via a secure server.
Trust the process! We stand by our our products and time-tested techniques 100%. If there are any issues with your order, we will make it right - replace it, refund it, whatever it takes to ensure you're positively delighted each time you receive a shipment from Reference Medicine.

Prior to transferring specimens to you, we will need an agreement in place. To start this process, visit and complete our Customer onboarding form. In addition, feel free to connect us with your procurement team and we will work with them directly to get set up as a supplier in your system.
To lock in your request, send us a Purchase Order or submit a signed quote. Once either of those are received, you’ll receive an email confirmation from us with our proposed ship date and your shipping address. We will then ship whenever it is convenient for you!
